Kindergarten Disappointments

Today is Amy's Kindergarten graduation. A happy exciting occasion, right? Well, we wish it was...
Amy has been sick for two days with a fever and headache. When she woke up this morning I took her temperature hoping that the fever had gone away. I was afraid to look at the thermometer because I really, really wanted her to be able to go to school. I was trying to justify in my mind that she could just go for the short graduation program and then come right back home. There are only two more days of school left, if she got anyone else sick, they wouldn't miss much. Ha...I can't even believe such a thought would pass through my mind!!! (I don't want to be a responsible parent.--I want her to get to go to the graduation!)

Well, to my amazement, Amy's fever was gone~!! YEAH She picked out her dress to wear, I curled her hair and put in the bow. The more she sat there at the counter the worse she felt. She asked me to turn off the t.v., & she put her head down. (now you know she's really not feeling well if she turns off the tv!!) She just couldn't even make herself eat a chocolate chip muffin.
She lay down on the couch... fighting back the tears she said "Which should I listen to my mind or my body? I really want to go to graduation, but when I get up I feel really bad!"
Isn't that the sadest thing? :( Poor girl. She had practiced special songs, and how to walk on the stage, and where to stand.... it was going to be a fun celebration!

As a consolation...

I'm going to borrow my friend Mary Kate's graduation cap and gown that she used with her preschool kids when they graduated last week. We'll get some cute pictures later. And hey, I got a blog post out of it!
