Ready Or Not...

Natalie and Jack's second baby was due October 8. I got a phone call on Thurs. Sept. 16 after Natalie had visited her Dr. It sounded like there was no way she was going to make it to her due date. She was dilated 3 cm , 70% effaced, and the baby was very low at station 0! Yikes!
After checking out airline ticket prices and talking to Kevin, I immediately went into high gear and started preparing to leave Saturday morning. I booked a one way ticket since we didn't really know the timing that was ahead of us. I made several meals for Kevin and the kids, baked a batch of chocolate chip cookies, stocked the freezer with meals they could prepare quickly. Cancelled hair cut, chiropractor, and dentist appt. for me. Emailed Amy's teachers to let them know what was going on with our family so they would take good care of her while I was away. :) I couldn't believe how much I accomplished in such a short time!
I had a very little sleep (like about 2 hours) then an early morning flight. Natalie and Jackson picked me up at the SLC airport at 10:15 AM. We headed to the Utah State Fair where Kevin's brother works and is in charge of all of the events. It was a hot day, so it was very nice to be chauffeured around in Kelly's golf cart. :)

Grandpa & Grandma West work at the fair too,
so it was fun to spend time with them
Thanks for giving us the VIP treatment, Kelly!

Every year there is a different sculpture carved
totally out of butter. Of course it is kept in a
refrigerated display case--pretty neat, eh?

Kelly & I took Jackson on the 'Big Yellow Slide'.
It was a long hike up there, and I was hoping
he wouldn't be scared but when we got to the
bottom Jackson said "AGAIN!!

After a hot day at the fair, Grandpa West treated us all to an nice cold icecream bar. Ahhh!

Here's how we've been filling our days waiting for baby to arrive....

Jackson and I had fun playing at the park while
Natalie had several doctors' appointments
....painting a dresser and switching
Jackson's clothes to the new one
I bought this fabric in May when I was
here to make the baby a quilt (cause
that's what Grandma's do) ...took it home, & brought it
back unfinished! Ha

It was fun to help Natalie get some pictures hung.
Just waiting for the new baby to arrive to fill up
some of those frames. :)

Look what I can do with my grapes, Gama!
I have really enjoyed spending time with Jackson.

Before every BYU home game Macy's grocery store sponsors a big tailgate party. This time they served steak, baked potato, roll and canned drink for $3.00! They also had fun games for the kids to do, drawings for all kinds of things, and a band playing Neil Diamond songs. It was a lot of fun. :) I didn't think to take any pictures until we were leaving.

We sure have enjoyed having you here and are glad to have gotten so much done before baby came! I'm glad the wait for baby is over though.
