IT'S A NUTCRACKER BIRTHDAY!

HAPPY 6TH BIRTHDAY AMY!!!

Amy turned 6 on December 6th...as she would tell you, it was her "Golden Birthday". She invited 6 of her friends and their Mom's to come over for pizza, and cupcakes decorated with a nutcracker on each one. After they played a bit and ate, she opened her gifts, & then we loaded everyone up and went to watch the LaGrange ballet perform "THE NUTCRACKER".

I had planned to read the girls the story before we went, but they got so busy playing, & I was visiting while I got the food ready, & I didn't think of it again until we all sat down in the theater! I was kind of upset with myself about that, but I quickly tried to explain the story to the girls seated near me. Kevin sat at the other end of the row and explained it to some at that end. Since Amy's first time attending the Nutcracker was when she was 1 week old, & she has attended every year since then, she was very familiar with the story. She enjoys watching the dvd of Jordan dancing in the Nutcracker, & also watches the Barbie Nutcracker video.

The girls all really enjoyed the ballet, & it was fun to watch their faces and excitement. It was a late night for 6 year old's, & a couple of them were pretty sleepy by the end. Amy was tired, but is the type child that just keeps going and going with the enthusiasm mounting until you finally put her to bed, then she's out like a light!

She had a wonderful birthday, & had so much fun planning her party, going to the ballet with her friends. I think she moved past her sadness (see Nov. 13 post), & it didn't end up bothering her too much that she wasn't able to be in the ballet this year. There are many years and opportunities to dance in the Nutcracker ahead...

Jessica is still talking about it! Maybe next time we see it she could actually stay awake the whole time! Thanks for not ratting her out in your post, even though I just did!
