Takin' A Break in the Spring

Every Spring our kids pose the same questions..."What are we doing for Spring Break???"  I have to admit, it causes some stress as we try to come up with ideas of things to do.  Our kids hear their friends all talking about what they are doing for spring break...you know, mostly going to the beach in Florida, or Disney World, or doing some other exciting things.  I don't feel pressured to compete or keep up with them, but I do feel like we should do something other than just sit at home all week.  If we are going to do anything, it's up to me to plan it.  Kevin is usually just too busy with work to think about such things.  I really wish it wasn't up to me all the time...but after 30 years of marriage, I should know that's just how it is!

We had some enjoyable "down time" which was a nice break from routine-
Ryan went unicycling with his friends, we went for walks around our neighborhood, did some baking together, and a little shopping.

The kids and I went bowling & to Ihop with Bently & Bonnie on Wednesday.  We had a lot of fun together.  One thing is for sure, no one is going to be begging any of us to join their bowling league any time soon!!  Our scores were pitiful.  ;)

Thursday we headed to Huntsville Alabama.  The scenery was so beautiful as we crossed lakes and drove through small "mountains".  I know my family got tired of hearing me comment on how beautiful the trees must be in the Fall there!   It's amazing to me that we have lived in Georgia for 28 years & this was the first time we had ever gone to the  US Space & Rocket Center.  The weather was great, & that worked out well since half of the things to see were outside.  We had fun learning about the different rockets and space missions, seeing memorabilia, going on rides that simulated a rocket launching, the G-force Accelerator, and the Mars Mission with it's rock climbing wall.

 Ryan and Amy helped demonstrate
how the sections of the modules
connect in space

 A rock from the moon!
We also had fun at a museum called Sci Quest.  Amy had fun doing all the experiments, & Ryan enjoyed learning the scientific details of how and why everything everything worked.

We explored the Unclaimed Baggage center in Scottsboro, AL.  Ryan and Amy were excited with their find of a couple of  nice mp3 players for less than $15.00.  That would be such a fun store to live near so we could check it out regularly.

We saved some time on our way home to stop at the factory outlets in Boaz, AL.  That turned out to be a huge disappointment!  Most of the stores had gone out of business.  Oh well, we had a fun trip, & got home at a decent time so we could unpack and get to bed early.

That looks like fun! I thought someone went to the space museum on a school field trip once...wasn't me though. Way to do something for spring break!
