We're Getting 2 Boys in August!!

My lack of writing isn't that nothing has been happening in our lives lately, it's that so much has been happening I haven't slowed down to write about it. That's a bad thing too, because these past several weeks have been a very exciting time for our family.
We went on a family vacation to Utah for 2 1/2 weeks. Natalie did such a great job blogging about most of that time, that I'm tempted to just link to her blog. I'm sure there are different pictures & things I could write about...but when???

The most exciting thing that happened during our trip was getting to meet Jordan's boyfriend, Shawn Metcalf. We have been hearing about this wonderful guy for about 6 months now, talked with him on the phone, & have seen LOTS of pictures. (Jordan always has her camera handy!)She was absolutely right, he is a very special guy!!

Instead of just getting one new boy in our family in August ( Natalie & Jack's new baby) ...........we are also getting a new SON_IN_LAW!!! Yep, that's right. Jordan and Shawn are getting married August 28. 8-28-08 Doesn't that have a nice ring to it?

Plans are falling into place nicely, & are well under way. The Timpanogos temple has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Northampton House has been booked for the wedding luncheon, & The Bungalow has been scheduled for their reception that evening. We are still pinning down a date for their Georgia reception.
Jordan and Shawn both start back to school for their Junior year at BYU on Sept. 2. They decided that it would be better to get married before school started instead of trying to do it mid-semester. (both sets of parents agreed) December is just not a great time for a wedding & getting family that is spread out all over the country together. They did not want to wait until the end of next April or May to be married....so Aug. 28 it is! Unfortunately, we already have another wedding in the familyscheduled in Canada on Aug. 29, so Grandma & Grandpa Wilson won't be able to make it to this wedding. We're hoping that they might be able to come to the GA reception. That's certainly not like being in the temple and feeling the wonderful spirit that is there when you are surrounded by closest family and friends, but it would still be great if they could share a part of this wedding.
People have asked us how we feel about all of this. We love Shawn already, & are thrilled for he and Jordan! We're happy to have him join our family & to be gaining another son. Jordan & Shawn are soooo happy together. It has been fun to be around them and share in their enthusiasm and excitement. We know they have both prayed about this, & they have had their confirmation that this is what is supposed to happen. It all feels right--for them & us!

We got to meet Shawn's parents while we were in Utah, & they are wonderful too. Shawn's Mom has been so great to help with all the arrangements and planning so far. We hit it off right away. :) Planning a wedding only a year after doing it has it's advantages. I still have all my notes, & things haven't changed so much so I don't I feel like I'm starting over totally from scratch. Using a reception center that will take care of the food, decorations, flowers, & cake is a huge relief. I have fun memories of decorating & planning Natalie & Jack's reception, but it also would have been wonderful to have done it this way! Soooo much less stressful!

Jordan and Shawn have been here with us in Georgia this week. I've been taking their engagement pictures, & we've been showing Shawn a little bit of the South. I know I'm going to hate to see them go! Fortunately, Jordan will be staying here for 2 more weeks. Next week she will be in Gainsville, GA. She is going to be an EFY (Especially For Youth) counsellor. She had planned on doing that for 2 weeks, but has since decided to spend the following week here working on wedding plans with me, & enjoying a couple of bridal showers that friends have offered to give her. That will be so much fun!!

Yay! ...I was confused with the title at first. I thought of Shawn, but then it took me a minute to realize who the other boy was :) Oh yeah. Mine.
Hooray!

I could not possibly be more happy than I am right now... knowing that I will soon be married to my best friend for time and all eternity.

I'm so glad I happened on a link to the West blog. It makes me wish we were having another reunion this summer!

Thank you Jordan, your wedding will be a good substitute. :-)

Congratulations to Natalie and Jack too-- hopefully we'll get to meet Baby Shirts at the wedding!

Congrats! I was so excited to hear about this, although I'd already heard before reading this post. I'm glad you are happy with their union. My sister, who is Jordan's age is also getting married about 5 days before Jordan's. Then there's Jeff's earlier on. We just have weddings all over the place this summer! Yea!
