Kevin and I stood in this spot the day we were married 28 1/2 years ago.
What a great beginning that was. I know it sounds so cliche, but it's true--
We loved each other then, but we love
each other so much more now!
While we were walking around Temple Square a man approached us and asked if they could interview us for a presentation the church was putting together about their contribution to the downtown SLC development. So, some day we'll be famous. ha Too bad we didn't co-ordinate the color of our shirts better that day, eh? ;)

We also toured the LDS Conference Center. It is the world's largest theater-type building and has 21,333 seats in the main area! We thought it would be neat for the kids to see where General Conference is held in October and April each year. We watch the conference by satellite broadcast at our church bldg. or on the internet at home in Georgia.

The pipe organ rises 42 feet high and 75 feet wide behind the pulpit and choir seats. This place is HUMONGOUS!!!
It was fun to go in the different buildings and learn what life was like when the pioneers came to Utah. We got to help the printer sort the type set letters into different slots and then Amy and Ryan helped to print a page of newspaper. Grandpa West worked for the Deseret News for many, many years. He has lots of stories about how men used to print the newspaper. Now everything is done on the computer, and they are even fearing that the newspaper business might go totally digital so there won't be a news "paper" to hold in your hands and read.
I didn't really see what Ryan did, but this "teacher" in the old school sure gave him the paddle for misbehaving. ;)

Chris, I really enjoyed reading about your trip to SLC. Thanks for keeping up with your blog and for letting us share in it. You are great and I love hearing about your darling family.
The lion fountain reminds me of the one at Pinafore Park.
Great pictures.
