Months ago we decided our kitchen needed updating, & that our 23 year old kitchen furniture needed refinishing. We stripped the old wallpaper which I still liked, but felt it was time for a new look. Kevin painted the walls, & then painted them again after we decided that the color was too blahh. He is so patient! He finished that job just before Jordan, & Natalie & Jack got home for Christmas. We surprised them :) I had seen a picture in a furniture ad of a table and chairs set where the table was stained on the top, but the legs and sides were painted black, & the chair seats were stained, but the legs and back were black. I showed it to Kevin, & we both decided we really liked the look. Kevin started refinishing the chairs & got some help from Jack with the priming. He kept taking chair after chair downstairs to work on it, & I finally had to put my foot down and say "no, you can't take another chair right now...we need something to sit on during the holidays!" ;) After the holidays he finished the chairs and then tackled the table & its 4 leaves. We gathered for meals around a 6' long folding table that is like the church tables only narrower. Our placemats touched each other on the opposite side of the table. It made for close family times, & we certainly couldn't avoid communicating, that's for sure. There wasn't room to put the food on the table along with our dishes, so we had buffet style meals for about 1 1/2 months. Finally as our Valentine's day gift Kevin & Bently carried up the finished table and we had dinner together on our "new" furniture. It felt so huge to spread out and to actually have the food on the table while we ate.
Kevin is a perfectionist, & everything turned out beautifully!! All of his hours of work were definitely worth it--we love our new look!

Nice!! love Amy's "ta-dah!" too:)
I love the wall color next to the floors.
I don't know anything about formatting blogs either. I sometimes put pictures in the center and then in the left or right just to see what it looks like. Don't get caught up on making it perfect! :)
I like it! It really does look so neat and crisp and clean---I think the plain walls (not the busy wallpaper) makes it seem that way. The table & chairs look great--you must have had some good help! :)
oh my goodness, the kitchen looks so good! It looks so clean!!! I think it looks more classy now that it doesn't have wall paper.
So mom, when do I get to have a post on your wall about me???
I love your kitchen! The black looks great! Can't wait to see it in a couple of weeks when I come for a visit. Did I just invite myself over? How rude!
No, our mom isn't coming for a visit. I forgot to sign out of her blog after posting a header pix. Sorry 'bout that!
I got excited to see some comments anyhow :)
Sure you can come over for a visit...love to have you. You know Ryan would be excited to see Forrest.
Beautiful kitchen! Home improvement always takes so long!
I enjoyed your blog, too.
