I am beginning the weight-loss journey. I debated whether or not to mention it to anyone, but decided (just now) that maybe you could be my support group, and it would keep me motivated and accountable. :) Yikes...do I really want to write about this? Maybe I'll hold off posting this until I sleep on it. ha
I signed up for Weight Watchers, because I know it works, and it is a healthy way of eating. I don't like radical diets that make me feel deprived-- NO carbs--NO fats--NO sugar--No flour----- NO, No, No! Not for me! I want to eat normal food and just redevelop my awareness of moderation.
I went to my first meeting yesterday, and I really like the group leader, the location, the time options, and I even knew a few people in the class I attended. Weight Watchers has a new plan called Points Plus+. They told me to throw out all old Weight Watchers materials that I might have from years gone by. Yup...I have been down this road before, so I had quite a collection.
My sister, Lori, told me about a great website for Gina's Skinny Recipes- http://www.skinnytaste.com/
Gina began the website in 2008 after searching for a good Weight Watchers recipe site and not finding one. She says her recipes "feature simple healthy recipes using real ingredients that are low in calories and fat. They are quick and simple to make and have been taste tested by a very critical panel, my family!"
Last night I tried Gina's Broccoli Cheese and Potato Soup . I know what you're thinking...
cheese and potatoes don't really sound much like "diet" friendly foods. That's what was so awesome about this recipe. It tasted DELICIOUS, it had those things in it, and it was Weight Watcher friendly. She does all of the calculations for you so you know how to count the points of what you make & eat. It was so good, I am making another big pot full to take to a Stake Relief Society meeting tomorrow. :) I hope I come home with some left over, but I bet I won't.
So, there ya have it- my new goal, and an introduction to a great website. I plan to try out lots of her recipes. I'll keep you informed (if you read my blog) about the recipes I love.
Now if you don't mind being a part of my support group, I sure appreciate your input. If you try a recipe, let me know.
Give me a little time, and you'll be seeing less of me! :)
