Amy's Baptism

December 6, 2010 was an exciting day for Amy--She turned 8 years old! It was a birthday she and thought about and prepared for, for many years...she was getting baptized!
As we were looking forward to this big event we talked with both sets of Grandparents and invited them to come visit us so they could be here for the special occasion.  It was the first time we had ever had both G & amp; G West, AND G& G Wilson here in Georgia at the same time!  It was wonderful!!!  :)

Amy planned out the program and told me who she wanted to invite. She got baptized on Sunday December 12th right after church.  Quite a few members of our Branch stayed for her baptism, and our very good friend Lee Ann Robinson came too.

We were all very sad that Ryan woke up sick Saturday morning with a headache and fever of 102*.  He came to Amy's baptism, but was feeling so bad he just lay on the couch in the foyer and then got up to watch the baptism.  I didn't even get a picture with him in it!  :(

Of course we missed having Natalie, Jack, Jordan and Shawn with us!

I still had the white dress that Natalie and Jordan wore for their baptism.  When I showed it to Amy she said "I don't want to hurt your feelings Mom, but I don't really care for that collar!"  It had puffy sleeves, and a 1990's-style big square collar on it.  I could see her point, but I really wanted her to wear it.  Fortunately I was able to do some simple remodeling by cutting off the collar & removing some stiff pellon from the sleeves.  My Mom tacked the facing down and the dress looked beautiful on Amy.   :)

Amy was so happy that her friend Jessica and her Mom came to her Baptism

Her other good friends Hannah & Heather Stewart (and their parents)and Annie Hoffer and her Mom came too.
We invited everyone over to our house to have lunch after the baptism, but only the Stewart family & Hoffers came.  It was a wonderful day for Amy, and we are so proud of her decision to be baptized!
This was the program that Amy planned:
Conducting: Bro Medders
Opening Song:  I Am a Child of God
Chorister: Mommy
Opening Prayer: Grandma West
Talk on Baptism: Grandpa West
Baptism of Amy performed by : Daddy
Witnesses: Grandpa Wilson & Grandpa West
Talk on Holy Ghost: Grandma Wilson
Amy's confirmation: Dad-
Assisted by: Grandpa Wilson, Grandpa West,
Bro. Medders, & Bro. Swanson
Closing Song: Teach Me to Walk in the Light

We were so thrilled to have our parents here for Amy's baptism and all of the other special things we had going on at the beginning of December.  It's a special memory we will always treasure!
