Fun Times in Canada March 29 - April 10

It has only taken me a month to get this blog written and the pictures downloaded...not too bad, eh? Haaaa

Ok, so this will be a long and boring entry for anyone reading it...just remember this is part of my journal--(the truth is, that I haven't actually written in my real journal in a very loooong time). Terrible, I know!

Sat. March 29 I came up with the crazy idea to take Amy and drive to visit my parents in Ontario, Canada. I had been lamenting the fact that we couldn't all go because Ryan had to compete at the State Science Fair at UGA, & Kevin had lots of work that needed to be done. I wondered if I was being unreasonably crazy since I had never attempted to drive that far by myself. My always supportive husband was true to form and encouraged us to "go for it". After a quick phone call to Mom & Dad to be sure they liked the idea, I started packing our things. We got kind of a late start on Sat. (3 PM) & ended up stopping in Kentucky for the night. We got up and left the hotel by 7 AM Sunday and crossed the border in Detroit around lunch time without any hassels. I couldn't believe that they didn't even look at my documentation or Amy's passport! They just asked where I was going, why, how long I would be there, & and then said "have a good time"! I was stunned, but said "ok, thank you", & headed across the Ambassador Bridge crossing into Canada. About 14 1/2 hours of driving later Amy & I arrived in St. Thomas. Amy was just perfect on the whole trip. She fell asleep about a 1/2 hour before we stopped the first night, & then she napped for the last hour of our drive before getting to St. Thomas. That was it for the WHOLE drive!

Here are a few highlights from our trip...

We went to visit Sis. Smith's farm.

We went to the Children's Museum in London.

"Welcome to McDonald's. May I take your order please?"...Don't they have the cutest McDonald's employees in Canada?

Do you think people will see your post since it has other ones above it??? I hope so, this was a good post. I enjoyed the pictures.

I wish I could have gone with you! I would have had fun in the children's museum too! And at scoops... and playing with grandma and grandpa.

How did you ever choose which pictures to put on here, I'm sure you had tons!

I love you.

What a great memory for Amy! Such precious times with grandparents and for you to see your parents! I understand about distance (however mine don't live quite that far away!) I love your spontaneity!
