(This is not a picture of OUR basement, I didn't think to do that)Saturday afternoon Kevin walked downstairs and discovered the room where the furnace is was flooded! The pressure valve had sprung a leak, and was spraying water out along a seam. He did some quick thinking and turned off the water coming into the house and going to the water heater. We have large carpet tiles on the floor in most of the basement. Fortunately, only the ones in that room were wet, & they are easy to pull up so they can dry out. We could have had such a disaster downstairs!!! Kevin rigged a bucket that could catch the water when he turned it back on for brief intervals (quick showers, & filling big water jugs etc). It made Mother's day interesting. :) Kevin fixes most things around our house, but he said he knows his limits. Using a blow torch welding the parts behind the gas furnace & water tank is NOT something he wanted to try! We were very happy that a plumber was able to come first thing this morning to fix the valve. Yeah for plumbers!
We feel VERY blessed that this happened while were were home, and not in two weeks when we are on vacation in Utah!
So... I guess we won't be getting a pool after all. Sorry to disappoint all of you who were hoping to come for a swim this summer ;)

I am a little disappointed, but I guess it is ok. I don't really swim very much anyway. Glad you got the water thing fixed.
yeah... I don't swim either... I would have had a nice time lying out, getting tan, by the pool... but seeing as I'll only be there for one week... I guess life will move on.
Yeah, that is such a blessing that did not happen while you are in Utah! I guess Bently would have been home so he would have noticed the problem but things would have been harder to get fixed if he were the only one home
Surely it didn't cost that much to fix that leak;) you could still get a pool....we need a place to swim:) ha!
That is good it happened while you were home!
